Gobustan State Historical and Artistic Reserve is located in Gobustan settlement of Garadagh district, 56 km from the capital Baku. There is also a museum here. Azerbaijan is known as a unique and classic development zone of mud volcanoes on the Earth. 344 of the more than 2,000 mud volcanoes in the world are located in the eastern part of Azerbaijan and in the Caspian Sea boundary. Most of the mud volcanoes are spread over Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, and some of them have been formed as a natural monument. With full determination Azerbaijan can be called a mud volcano, and these volcanoes are both national and natural resources.
